INTERNET ROUND UP

Chloe GordonComment

READ

I read this short passage on Tumblr the other day and my mind was blown. I always think about getting into ruts with what I physically do each day, but I’ve never really thought about the ruts we’re in with things we don’t think about as often — especially when it comes to words. Toc-Tic is just wrong.

WATCH

If I could choose any famous person’s sense of humor to take for my own it would, hands down, be Steve Harvey. He’s hilarious and I always find myself watching his “best of” videos on YouTube, especially when I’m in need of some cheering up. This video is one of my favorites, and that little boy.. SO CUTE.

Confession, when I looked up the link to this video I got distracted by all of the Little Big Shot videos so watch all of them haha.

LISTEN

In honor of my friends going to his concert this week, I decided to share RUFUS DU SOL. I love his song “Sundream” and think you guys should give it a listen. It’s kinda bumpin’ but also chill. The perfect summer night song.

SHOP

I’m working at Anthropologie this summer and it’s dangerously awesome. I want to spend my paychecks on literally everything in the store and it’s taking all of my will power not to purchase one of each. However, a lot of my co-workers have been purchasing this jumpsuit and I’m dying to try it on. Jumpsuits never look that great on me, but I’m convinced I need it.

SEE

Something about this photo illuminates summer. Maybe it’s the fleetingness of it — summer is here and then gone in the blink of an eye. Maybe it’s the black and white. Maybe it’s the bare feet on the pedals. All I see is summer.

Best Workout Playlist Ever

MUSICChloe GordonComment

I saw a tweet the other day that said something along the lines of, “High school summers: do whatever TF you want. College summers: separation anxiety, attempt to make money, and try to lose weight.”

I honestly don’t think I could connect to words more strongly. We’re talking a spiritual connection. A connection stronger than my weekly horoscope on Cosmo’s snap story. A connection stronger than one to my own pet cat. So you get it? A strong connection.

This summer especially, I’m missing my friends more than ever. I have a job at Anthropologie that I love, but also am struggling to save money from (because I want to buy everything), and I’m trying super hard to get rid of the sophomore 16 — it’s a real thing, I swear.

But, this morning I didn’t have to work so I was scrolling through the internet (just millennial things) and I came across this playlist by Refinery29 called “Best Workout Songs Spring 2017,” and it looks amazing! One of my least favorite things when working out is having to constantly skip songs or find new songs to listen to, but this playlist honest to goodness looks flawless.

We’ve got some G-Eazy, some Blackbear, some Kendrick Lamar, and some Akon. So I think we can all agree so skipping will be necessary. Give it a listen and let me know what you think.

What do you listen to when you workout?

Summer Reading

Chloe GordonComment

My parents moved across the country during my freshman year of college. I was super pumped that they moved because it meant that I could go to Florida during all my school breaks, but even though my family has moved a ton in the past, this has been the hardest move. I think going from constant social interaction to just knowing my mom, dad, and brother is a little weird. It’s like if you go from eating chocolate cake every night after dinner to just having fruit for dessert. Not terrible, but a drastic change, ya feel?

Every time I come home for more than a week I’m bored outta my mind. I don't have any friends here (AT ALL) so I live that fictional friendship life (i.e. books and movies and TV shows).  I’ve been looking for a list of good books and can’t really find one so I decided to make a list in case anyone else is looking for some good summer reads.

These are some of my all time favorite books, and if you have any recommendations for books I should read, feel free to leave them in the comments!

The Impossible Fortress
Attachments
Orphan Train
American Wife
The Selection
Bossypants
The Glass Castle

And these are the ones on my radar that I want to read soon:

Men Without Women
The Swans of Fifth Avenue
The Rules Do Not Apply
The Mothers
The Girls
The Nest
Difficult Women
Sorry To Disrupt The Peace
The Thousandth Floor
Modern Lovers

Thanks for reading!

the beach, but not the beach, but the beach, but also not

Chloe Gordon1 Comment

The other day my mom told my brother and I that we were going to go to the beach. We live in Florida so it didn’t seem that out of the ordinary, but when I mentioned that rain was in the forecast my mom mentioned that it didn’t matter because it was an “indoor beach.”

I was super confused, mostly because how does an entire ocean fit indoors (riddle me that) but also because my mom sounded excited about it and she hates the beach (something about sand ending up where it shouldn’t).

I still didn’t really know what I was getting myself into until we ended up at the arena in my downtown area. We got in line and the people working there immediately asked my brother and I if we wanted free ice cream. I instantly knew I was were I belonged in life. We then walked into the arena and I was met with white everywhere. Like literally everything was white. The chairs, the floors, the walls, the corn hole, the “water.”

Basically, the whole “beach” is an interactive art exhibit. The water is a giant ball pit and the floors feel like real sand. It’s kind of everything a beach should be (in my eyes), air conditioned, clean, no sunscreen needed, so bikini body needed, etc.

Here are a few pictures, and definitely be on the lookout to see if it’s coming to your city any time soon. Or if any cool interactive art exhibits are in your area because 9 times out of 10 they are totally worth checking out!

Obsessions, Lately

EXTRASChloe Gordon2 Comments

It’s summer so I obviously have time to waste. And how do I spend this time you ask? By browsing the internet for hours upon hours at a time, of course. It should be obvious at this point that I’m obsessed with the black hole we humans call the internet. And if it’s not obvious, you need to read more of my posts, clearly ;)

Here are a few of my favorite internet obsessions I’ve discovered lately.

I’m always on the hunt for casual tees with a twist. You know the shirts you can just throw on but once they’re on you feel cool? I finally found a company that screams casual but still 100% cool and effortless. I need one of each, please.

I stumbled upon this Tumblr account the other day and I fell in love. The artist creates this cute little paintings with original one liners on each painting. They’re always clever and often thought provoking. Totally worth checking out and giving him a follow.

Need some Instagram inspo? I’ve (well, actually, Urban Outfitters) has you covered.

I don’t just want this, I literally need this. Need. It’s a must have.

I’m always on the hunt for the coolest speakers I don’t know what it is about college, but everyone I know has a speaker. Well, everyone but me. I think I might scoop up this speaker before fall rolls around. It’s cute, portable, and the reviews say it’s a goodie.

It’s summer so obviously, a swimsuit is an essential wardrobe must have. I seriously want every single one in this shop. http://marysiaswim.com

I’m not very good at putting my feelings into words. But this list from NYMag of 10 extremely precise words for emotions you didn’t even know you had helps me immensely.

Do you have any links I need to know about? If so, share them in the comments pretty please.

SoHo Details

RANDOM STUFFChloe GordonComment

This past weekend, my dad and I ventured up to New York for his 30th college reunion. He actually went to college in Connecticut, but I was promised a shopping day in NYC if I joined him. I, of course, couldn’t pass up a shopping trip in NYC with my dad. I mean come on, how could anyone pass that up?

We were only there for the afternoon and decided to stay in the SoHo area. It was sweltering hot, and my dad isn’t much of a shopper so, under the circumstances, we didn’t do that much shopping. I ended up only buying two tee shirts, but I also ended up with a fun snap story.

When SnapChat first came out I didn’t really understand what the hype was about. You take pictures and your friends can see them for like five seconds? “Big deal, Instagram is cooler,” I naively thought. But it has since grown on me. I really enjoy the idea of a temporary representation of yourself. A little mini photo diary that can change and evolve and is temporary. There’s something magical about the temporariness of SnapChat that I love.

So anyway, I decided to take photos of cool or cute little things that I saw throughout the day. It started unplanned, but it evolved into this artsy little photo diary of my day. I got a lot of compliments on the photos so I thought I’d share them with you. Obviously, this takes away form the temporary aspect that I like so much, but they’re pretty pictures so pishposh.

If you ever find yourself in SoHo I totally recommend the Clare V. store and the Sleepy Jones store. You’ll love them.

Thanks for reading! What are your favorite SoHo spots?
